I purchased a Sealy posturepedic pillow-top Sealy Timberline "Cadillac of mattresse" set from from Mattress Discounters aka Sleep Center for $1400. It had a 10 year warranty.

In one year the top mattress and pad began to break down. They sent out a company to measure the mattress and was told that the sag in the mattress had to be 1 1/2 inches or more and I wasn't there yet. They measure from side to side of mattress, not top to bottom to show the real sag. In 3 years the sag was so bad it was very obvious and unconfortable to sleep on.

I called Mattress Discounters, they sent out the same company to measure, said I still wasn't a 1 1/2 inches. I had measure 3 inches. I sent a complaint to Consumer Affairs who spoke to Sleep Ctr Corporate and they would not honor my warranty. Consumer Affairs claims Matress Discounters & Sleep Ctrs is a big company known for this kind of bad business dealings and difficult to win a case against them.

Don't waste your money with this company.

Or Sealy. Most bedding companys won't sell this brand name anymore.

Monetary Loss: $1400.

Location: Los Angeles, California

I also have a problem with sagging of the mattress. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM MATTRESS DISCOUNTERS.I can't believe the everyone has the same problem and the see nothing wrong with their mattresses. It definitely is a manufacturer's defect and they would not admit to it.

They must like the negative comments written about them.Nothing to laugh about.I have been sleeping on an air mattress that I purchase from Walmart that cost $45 and it is more comfortable than a $500 mattress. You do the math. :cry

I also bought a mattress from MD and to my great surprise what was suppose to be a firm mattress, turned out to be soft.I bought this mattress on July 3rd.and have not been able to sleep on it because of the severe back ache I would get up in the morning with.I have been to *** and back and with no satisfaction from the company, this is why I am writing my story. Finally some jack came out to examine the mattress and said it was fine.I think we all need to take our case to the BBB.I always thought that they sell second hand mattresses but now I am convince.I have a $500 mattress that I cannot sleep on so now what do I do.I was told that I need to pay $84 .I have no idea what for because the customer service stared to get very rude with me so I had to put her in her place. You sell me a piece of *** and I must eat the cost, no way something has to be done.I have discourage a lot of my friends from buying anything from you and I will continue to do so.Please get your act together because we the consumer would put you of business.I say shame, shame on Mattress D. Unhappy and angry customer. :cry

I bought a $6563.28 mattress set from Mattress Discounters in Riverside Ca.on 07/28/2010. Within a month it is sagging in the middle & we are slanting in sideways.

No help from anyone. They just give you the run about & don't care.

Do Not buy from Mattress Discounters because they will just cheat you out of your money!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!

I am so pissed at Mattress Discounters in Rohnert Park, CA... I bought a $1400 Sealy "Notable Plush" and because I'm sensitive to smells, I had to air it out for 2 weeks to diminish the off-gassing.

When I finally slept on it, it didn't feel like the mattress I tried in the showroom. I had them switch it out for a new one, same model, and they were happy to do it since there is only ONE switch allowed. After waiting another 2 weeks to off-gas, the mattress was just as inferior as the first: No support! No springiness!

It's like thick, dense futon mattress. Even the edges of the mattress aren't reinforced -- you slip right off the edge of the bed! I called the store and Travis immediately went into the "How much is it sagging?" ***. He referred me to Customer Service, which is an answering machine.

I called Travis back and he said he'll email them and have them call me. I want a refund, but it's over their 60 night limit and I don't want another mattress from them! I'm going to contact Seven on Your Side with Michael Finney, from Channel 7 in SFO. I'm also going to organize a protest out front of their store on a day they're having a sale and warn people to STAY AWAY FROM MATTRESS DISCOUNTERS!

Yup, Franky is right. I too work at a mattress retailer.

The warraty is honored through the manufacturer.

However, some retailers will work with the manufacturer on your behalf. Be sure to ask when you make your next mattress purchase.

Also recently wrote to president of Sealey Mattress company at their headquarters. Told them I was going to go to a local TV station "trouble shooter" and essentially ruin Sealey nationally.

No reply. They clearly don't care and they disguise their product under other names. So, beware of ANY mattress you buy.

Do your research. It may seem like a lot of work for a mattress, unless you want to buy a new mattress every year, it's worth it.

Well Mattress discounters did me wrong too. I'm sleeping on a sagging mattress and instead of helping me, they told me to stuff it in so many words.

They lost a $5oo sale on a new mattress over a $200 warranty claim. Also, they have lost not just me, but my family as a custoemr, and I will be happy to tell any one who will listen to buy from soem other company. My family spent ovwer $4000 on new mattresses from them in December of 08. That kind of money will never be spent there again.

My goal is to cost them 100 customers minimum. I figure 100 customers times and average $1000 mattress purchase is enough money to le thtem feel the hurt.

Thank you Frank... and yes, it was ultimately Sealy that cheats you on your warranties.

However, if a company is going to sell their products and they are concerned about their reputuation in the industry, you would think Mattress Discounters aka Sleep Center would give a customer a new, perhaps less expensive agreed upon mattress.

But they make no attempt except to sell you a more expensive mattress. I WON'T EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN NOR WILL MY MANY FRIENDS.

Dianenca: I work for a competitor of Mattress Discounters, and while it is true Mattress Discounters is known for their "bad business dealings" a warranty claim has nothing to do with the retailer as warranties are serviced through the manufacturer, in your case Sealy. The company that came to your house is a third party with no ties to either the retailer or the manufacturer. I agree that you should not "waste" your money with Sealy, however as they are known in the industry for their inferior product.
